I didn't promise, I said inshallah¹: Saudi Arabian employees' perceptions of the importance of implicit promises within the psychological contract

The psychological contract was both conceptualised and has been investigated primarily in Western contexts. While research demonstrated its utility for exploring the nature of individual employment relationship other cultures, fundamental tenets have never challenged. In particular, there is an absence empirical on how notion implicit promises might be viewed Eastern contexts, spite constituting a significant plank employee interpretation contract. Using two case studies Saudi Arabia, this investigates different sources information influence construction culturally unique context. We propose theoretical model that outlines key factors shape beliefs order to guide future field contracts.
